So many causes, so little time, and preaching to the choir on our dime is far less effective, than standing united without rancor, cooling off the rhetoric and discover the “tie that binds.” “He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never sound retreat, He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment seat.” If not all faiths & cultures, then let the Western Hemisphere not impede. If not Reforms and Change in Education, Corporate Greed for the Green, Politics as Usual and American Health, then let "We the People" take the lead. To counter balance both Left and Right, let’s stop making fun of the Tea People and Unite Progressives, Liberals and Democrats to Recapture the Essence of the Humanity in might, else renewed Civil War that once was before, will again be our plight.

There’s a new low in rearview mirroring passion; a new age, insisting we turn our 20th century page backwards for oil stick dipping and more Texas style retroactive action. There’s a marriage of convenience between Goliath Corporate Gangstas, Rovian Arizona Palin and To Rand Paul or Not To Rand Paul. Going back in time on the Rand Line we strip away Conservative hidden agenda with the answer that’s blowing in the wind from Sarah and Rushin’ spin. Gone with the Wind is the reversal of Bush’s signing of 1991 Civil Rights Act succumbed to Right pushin’. MIA is a Congress with courage to override Reagan’s veto of Restoration. Blown away is Johnson’s Presidential signature atop JFK’s foundation, denying the stroke of a pen that could return Martin & Bobby for what might have been. Rand’s breezy manner blows cold on Malcolm X, Selma and Montgomery Alabama. Back before party time Tea, KKK bog served up missing Mississippi three. Nothing left now of Birmingham four, but that was after Bull Conner, Medgar and “I Have A Dream,” before ’64.

America: The Comeback Kid! PDF Print E-mail

How inspirational when shovellers of religion who diminish much of what God can be and America has been, are out voted by Americans taking another swing at “Democracy in Action” as we did 236 years ago with an exceptional idea for a new nation. Now, that was an act of faith. This week Citizen Power courageously faced up to the Goliaths of Oil and their Banksta partners; stood tall before pretend public servants; took on the arrogance of power in the wake of The Dick's Halliburton era of political dominance by Oil, Banking, Pharmaceutical, & Insurance Industries, and voted against their puppets in defiance of corporate inhumanity, against the foundation of America's success: The Middle Class. Just like 1776, it took but a few Americans in a handful of states rising to the occasion to proclaim, “ENOUGH!"

They weren't radicals screaming in the street about restrictions on what you have to look like in order to be a real American. They were not self-serving politicians, nor reporters substituting gossip for news. They were responsible American citizens, unemployed, working families and their underemployed neighbors & friends trying to get by -- all proclaiming in unison, “we're bearing the weighty pain resulting from the evil marriage of greed between Corporations, Congress, Supreme Court and the Media, and we’re now holding accountable all disciples, hangovers and puppets, of the “to hell with the people," thinking of Corporations and their Conservative friends, even before 2000!

All Americans, whether they adopt policies of discrimination & limitations, or seek to hold on to power through corporate donations,or insist that the strength of America will rise out of the ashes left by the Bush League and restore in the people a renewal of our Democratic National Essence, all have at least one thing in common: Those who run our Corporate Institutions find us of no importance to them.

Mr. President, you were elected because you promised “Yes We Can” be different from the dangerous, damaging, and devastating regime that all but destroyed our National Honor, our International Reputation and our Personal Economy. So now rediscover the wisdom of the people who hired you and the Progressive strength embedded in their votes for you, and “Gedder done!”

Tuesday May 10, 2010, was a renaissance of 1776 & 1960, proving when pushed too far and taken for granted, “We the People” actually wake up, pay attention and remind all in elected office, that in this post Bush/Cheney/Bailout era of Oil Spills, Bankstas and Corporate greed, “We the People” have found our voice once again, and No One is Too Big for Us to Fire!

So, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear:" "We the People are making a Comeback!" Forget your talking points, polls and Media pundits. This is your wake up call, a shake-up of our corporate puppet government. Even if we’re guilty of over simplification and inconsistent reactions, “We the People” are still that “Government of, by & for the People and we're not about to perish from the earth, like an oil deluged sea world.

We said, “No” to the man from the “Party of No:" put in Mark Critz and took out a pretend Democrat. Then with a wink gave Mitch McConnell a warning nod. Finally, admonishing, what's Lincoln done for you lately, we capped off the evening with a suggested re-run for a Democrat in name only. Time for her to read the tea leaves and join her friends Cantor & McConnell in the after Congress private life.

Perhaps Primary night was the dawning of a new age of responsible "Citizens' Alert:" Pay attention to detail and the Primary lessons, but don't accept the surface analysis of Chuck Todd, George Will or Andrea Mitchell, anymore than President Obama should be listening to "The Suits" around which he has insolated himself. If you bake your pie of “Change,” with the same old ingredients that The Dick used to burn down our money tree at cookouts for Bankstas and giants of corporate greed, you too Mr. President, will end up with the same indigestible ashes of DICK: Rush, Palin and Rand Paul.

Can you hear The Dick laughing from the shadows every time a Conservative calls educated people “Elitists?” We were Dick duped, and now we’re being played by the “not my fault” industry villains of Oil, whose definition of Fail-Safe is 260 potential failures about which we can lie for profit without fear. The real “Elitists” are those who are Just Not That Into You, earning over one million a year. To them we are just customers to be sold: grazed and raised cash cows, not peers. Texas Tea drillers live “All My Sons” in shells of corporate suits.  Big American Business is not American at all, but survives and thrives in jet streams international, while we serve at their beck and call.

In this immorality play we’ve been cast to look the other way, while the curtain rises on, slime a nominee supremely sliding within the flow of environmental crime. Knowing who’s really leading this sticky divorce dance with incumbents and why, gives rise to swirls of a new waltz of stink, from Gulf & Ocean caps cresting toward our shore, bobbing atop a wave of oily Congressional flippers, while doing the two faced step with “it’s not my fault” Texas Tea rappers.

Truth is, tis the black gold profiting dippers invested in our National damage, descending to deathly depths greater than ever before, heaping residue waves of watery carnage. Careful suppression of supreme selection is slick manage prevention, for both Chemicals and Oil sustain kill ratio beyond ocean floor, without their detention.

It’s CEOs and Company Boards positioned on high, who determine who gets “a Freakin Job,” if only they would try. Believing in our greatness is more than professing it pummeling, for reveling in the inept mediocrity of “Drill Baby Drill, is just buying more of what Corporations and Conservatives are shoveling, spill after spill.

It’s not twisting walls or twisted laws but common cause that promises a comeback for our economic heart pumping, after The Dick’s Bush League Elephants did their dumping. Our fear and anger just give rise to The Birth of an Arizona Nation. Stop following those who grandstand behind a radio mike or preach internet violence, for they are fake Americans shielding behind a façade, red scare malevolence. All Americans regardless of politics, color or NARTH “Rent a Boy” rub downs, can depend on a Corporate equity line of, “Frankly, I don’t Give a Damn.”

While Tea Party Candidate Brad Goehring urges gunning for progressive thinking Americans, and Conservatives rush to genuflect at the altar of Boss Limbaugh, did you know that all that off shore drillin’ doesn’t automatically come to our shore, unless it’s spillin’? Somebody please explain to Sista Palin, next time she spouts not knowin’.  She’s the only Conservative talkin’ that doesn’t see, all oil a drillin’ is for sellin' all over the world to the highest one biddin’. Political rebellion led by blubberin’, throws out both baby Jesus and bath water to sow seeds of mass destructin’.

Consider this: Why do you think Conservative voices in Congress, Radio and Television want us angry, shouting threats, fearful of the unfamiliar, resenting what looks different from us, resulting in our growing mutual distain, living in a state of chaos and incivility? Who most benefits from our disarray, certainly not those earning less pay? Who has the most to lose if we stop following each other on Twitter and Corporate owned media news? We know its Congress where the payoffs land, but let's find where the money trail began.  What if the real “Elitists” aren't at all the educated, but rather the monied paying for protection with a Government castrated.  Keeping us in arrears is the Elitists Corporate Band.  So whether tea or coffee, lift together a cup of wisdom to Liberty, for “United We Stand?”

Offshore rig explosion, 11 dead, 200,000 thousand gallons of death & greed, pumping every day into our fish oil, while slick suits adopt Banksta stance, “to the victor goes the spoil.” Want jobs? Forget billboards and FB walls of violence. Turn deaf ear to Conservative Red Scare and boycott those who are, Just Not That Into You.

COLOR: Heed, Need, Speed, Greed, Plead PDF Print E-mail

In the darkest before the dawn, whether it is to wake the sun or herald in a new day, the sound of music of multi species rendering so many different melodies, is almost deafening in its beautiful harmony, each in mild competition, yet complementing the diverse congregation in pre-dawn opera. While engulfed in such a crescendo, in an instant we go from dark to dawn. So speedy is the moment of transformation from night to light, that the exact moment is as incomprehensible as a sound bite, but when the birds sing in early glow, heed the wisdom found in decrescendo.

Truly we are a National rainbow of human thought and philosophy, everyone with an opinion of who & why, what & when and back again. Some professing profusely their love for all, while disbelieving in anything beyond their own existence; others claiming to have the ear of all the power in the Universe, but with it, empowered to determine who among us is worthy of casting the first stone; then there are those who meander somewhere by chance behind a door, be it yoga, or quiet stream side humming or worshiping at the altar of, “for whom the bell tolls” Mon-Fri at four.

Twice I felt the need for holy places, carrying a list of wants in need of communication with a power beyond those who were always so ready to tell me where to go. Once I found a quiet refuge where Christmas trees priestly grown all year, were sold during the holiday season, in delightful speed. So I “checked in” to a cell of simple bed, desk, chair, tiny bedside rug, bath and chapel down the hall, and for the winter-tidings of great joy settled in several mornings, before an enormous rendition of the final moments of the Prince of Peace. Legal yellow pad in hand, I stated my case for an almighty heed to my need for speed. No rush of wind nor appearances, but life certainly did go on gloriously without cease.

After many years of wonder and wander, I found myself kneeling in a tiny little room filled with wooden pews, before a tiny little Mary touring America on special loan from the Vatican. Again, I was alone, or so it seemed until I, even with notes in hand again, couldn’t manage to utter anything but, “Thank You” and “I Love You,” in repetitive refrain. Truly, I am not one who is ever at a loss for words, but with each attempt to speak my piece for speed, all that came out was obvious adoration instead of need.

Now, it's not reasonable to tell others what to think, or say or be; and I’d be afraid to profess that God speaks to me. However, in a world of near misses from foreign enemies, where discrimination of immigrants is applauded, perhaps “attention must be paid” to our temples of greed, who successfully drain, destroy and bleed us for their gain. Perhaps one plea from Rove, Beck & Rush we should heed:  ask, seek and knock in head long speed, for a renaissance of black & white color scheme. There is after all, one color to be revered above all, and held sacrosanct to conform to their bidding. It's the color worshiped, manipulated and lorded over us by Corporations of Bankstas, Health Insurance, Pharmaceuticals, Cigarettes and even what we’ve been feeding. It's the color of Corporate Greed and the need for GREEN, that keeps us struggling in this sea they've turned red for you and me.

At eventide when the birds do sing again, heed the speed with which our Red, White, Blue, Black, Brown and Yellow are sacrificed to the Corporate White Squall, that insures for the top 2% enough Black Gold for them to haul. “I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty” from BP, Goldman Sachs, Sarah Palin, her ex-Maverick sidekick McCain and retreating hypocritical Congressional support of “Drill, Baby Drill,” forever and again.

Bus from NYC to Arizona PDF Print E-mail

There are no easy solutions to our complex challenges, and certainly off-shore drilling doesn't come as close as the spilled oil flowing to our shore.  However, facing the reality that we have been governed more often than not, by a bought and paid for State and Federal government, we discover renewed Hope for Change, and it comes from Your Street, not Wall Street.  It's in "We the People."  Yes New York caught a break from wherever lucky breaks come from.  Nonetheless, it was so uplifting and inspiring to see yet again, the best of what New Yorkers (& all of us) can be, and how quick and decisive New York’s Finest can take action.  Until 2000, I had lived in NYC for decades, witnessed how Big Apple Firemen, Police, Teachers, Hospital pros, passersby on the street and Hot Dog Vendors step up to the plate and swing away.

On Sept 11, 2001, I was teaching Middle School in Northern Virginia near CIA, and while others were turning off school TV sets, as if that would make it go away, my students and I watched and discussed. Yes, they were afraid and confused by the replaying of the towers falling, but they were also filled with questions, and as a New Yorker, I hoped to think fast and provide answers.  You see, almost all my students had parents working that day at both CIA and the Pentagon. I tried to be for them what, on this second day of infamy, the firemen and policemen we were watching on TV were trying to be for those in the towers. So when did it all change to the United States of Arizona?

As shockingly blatant as it was to hear a sitting Vice President respond to public war objections with an arrogant, “So,” The Dick’s Rovian Bush League was not the first stop on route through Katrina and coal mine disasters to McCain country. First there were the bookends of The Sedition Act of John Adams and the pressured FDR establishing concentration camps in “The Land of the Free,” for Asian Americans, some of whom had family members fighting in WWII – Yes, on our side.  No it started before that.  Post war disciples of Booth started up the bus for our journey through Jim Crow with a sequel of the "War of Aggression" in marathon right into the 60’s of JFK, MLK and BOBBY. Then our Non-Freedom Bus to desert South West, took off in a puff of white smoke, picking up June 1964 trio in Mississippi, after transferring through the empire building of McKinley, Teddy and Taft.

Once upon a time, charity began at home, but that was before the Golden Rule had nothing to do with our getting Sachs.  A time when "giving back" was part of being the super wealthy upper class.  Benefactors reigned free before Titanic and before Regan attached the strings to Reagan. Names like Rockefeller, Astor, Vanderbilt, Carnegie, Pratt, Merryweather & Post and even Henry Ford were synonymous with Society Patrons, marking the way for Bill Gates and Warren Buffett.

Now, just two weeks after the Bankstas told Congress this is where they get off, they deposit our broke Non-Freedom bus onto the Goldman Ferry, and shove us off.  Then from somewhere in a cloud of fog far away, the voice of CEO Lloyd Blankfein delivered our eulogy, "we’ll have to use muscles we haven’t developed, because we’re not used to dealing with the individual, but I guess we’ll have to learn because we can’t survive without the public trust.” But for now, we sail on in black gold, sipping Texas tea, across the River Styx.

Though Corporations are not people as our Supreme Court proclaims, they are nonetheless run by relatively small Boards of human beings who have long sense lost their memory of the struggle, their sensitivity to the masses, and with it, their humanity. If not for “We the People,” perhaps upon reflection, they may yet honor the memory and example of “The Fabulous 400,” who, like other immigrants, lit the path to current treasure. If only Corporations could truly internalize, as Franklin put it, “If we don’t hang together, we most assuredly will hang separately," then life can reign supreme in the American Dream.

Then on May 1st 2010 we're renewed by thousands from the Statue of Liberty, to the Washington Monument to even the infamous (missing) Book Depository, filled with passionate proclamation: No, we're not waving the white flag to the united house of Jan Brewer. No, we're still Mavericks in "The Home of the Brave," honoring our National Immigrant Heritage, as The United States of America, still defined by the words of Emma Lazarus. We are not Arizona!

Well, I guess it’s Right to say, “Drill Baby Drill,” and to hell with the cleanup bill. Just raise the price of gasoline immediately and we can afford to destroy the environment repeatedly. Even the man of peace lost his temper over “Money Changers,” pleading expenses in self-serving whimper. One thing is certain, when a Thinking Progressive President with a Global View makes policy choices that please Corporate Owned Conservative Politicians, we can expect to be deep in waste and it’s oil Americans will be bailing out, in haste. As we sink or swim in the muck of sticky goo, the Cheney crowd slips in at the pump, a price hike or two. Aren’t the Arizona aliens lucky? Before Oil companies take a raise in pay, they get to jump back over the border and try another day. If only the top financial 2% could see beyond the green, they’d soon realize that destroying rain forest and shore line beaches can only cause climate change, thus reducing our ability to be their ATMachines. Bad citizens making bad choices for good citizens leads to the land of “The Nothing."

Though run by the soulless of humanity, Corporations are not people. Individuals are their last priority, even when rivers of oil run through seafood dining potential onto dinner for two plates, oozing more than just streams of butter. It’s still The American Dream, is just too slick and sticky to mutter.

Before America was, there were good men trying to do the right thing, by moving way Left from tyrannical overlords, you know like Rove and The Dick’s Halliburton and Blackwater Boards. These pre-nation citizens came rich and poor, liberal and conservative, who between bouts at the local tavern and swatting flies in The Hall in sweltering July heat, still progressed left and then west, in a steady beat. As brothers and nation fathers they moderated, until civility was in election 2000, obliterated. With carriage, horse or strolls through Philadelphia streets, they conversed, pressed the flesh of passersby as well as barmaids on the sly, and managed to keep something of a balance between the pulse of the people and the needs of the wealthy, without involving the house with the steeple.

A wealthy owner of land and people, Declared our Independence, proclaiming our white man right to “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness," without domestic spying on the citizens it was created to “Preserve, Protect and Defend.” Still stopping short of freeing blacks, though not brown border crossing rejecting, it propelled our fledgling nation straight into harm’s way against an almighty force with no hope of ejecting. Yet win we did, with farmers, grocery clerks, preachers, blacksmiths, cabinet builders, liverymen, candle makers and the like, who yearning to be free, followed the wealthy landowners into battle for you and me. As now, of course, most of the politicians and bankers stayed behind, to reap the benefits of the fighting front line, horde. Before most felt like “We the People,” they marched on through snow at Valley Forge. So now we get to walk in freedom and peace, if only we can subdue the beast, of greed sponsored shouting and discord of “me first,” without cease.

“Nothing Comes from Nothing, so” I walked, albeit on a gloriously beautiful sunny breezy day, until my toes pinched, my knees refused to tag team play and my back said, “I'm switching to the Party of "Hell No," until May.  I walked all around the Capitol Building where they used to keep the government, to numerous Congressional buildings named after dead politicians, long city blocks separated from living constituents.  From Senate offices through the maze of several Houses of Representatives on marbled floored hallways, I Walked On With Hope In My Heart.

In Washington now, fighting for the good of the people, as its namesake did, is discouraged, but I walked for all of us Red, White, Blue, Black, Brown and Yellow too. Following the lead of PDA-Va Co-Chair Andrea Miller, The Reasonable Voice joined The Progressive Democrats of America, National & Virginia, on "The Hill," Wednesday April 28, 2010, two years after Dad went forever still.  Without shouts, screams or insults, we endorsed Marcy Winograd, challenger to GWB domestic spy ally, J Harman. We met with Rep J. McGovern, Rep F. Wolf, Rep G. Connolly, Rep D. Kucinich, Rep G. Nye, Rep J. Conyers, Chief Counsel B. Schiff (Sen R. Feingold), Sen J. Webb, and Sen M. Warner – speaking truth to power for Financial Reform of Banks & Wall Street, The Restoration of Voting Rights for ex-offenders trying to assimilate back into society as both Good & Complete Citizens, AND “Medicare for All.”

Walking for Freedom, Justice and Equality, I hoped somehow Adams, Lincoln, JFK, King and Bobby could see. After some explanation, we got the signing on and support of TWO, for The Democracy Restoration Act, now before Congress. Not as impressive as driving out Cornwallis, I knew, but far more than E Cantor, who refused to see voters walking the walk to be heard by lawmakers who banter Corporate talking points.  Look out Cantor, because of you, we in Virginia are going blue!

Being American is more than military might. It’s even more than bragging rights. Being a Patriot is about reaching out, about joining in, and fighting the good fight for Family, Neighborhoods, and Global Warming. Being a good citizen is about planning for the future, Educating our Children, Respecting Senior Citizens and providing all with descent and affordable National Health Care. Being American is about remembering those, all too often forgotten; about speaking out, helping out and holding accountable those who sacrificed our young to death and mutilation with an illegal war for financial gain through old domination. Being an American Patriot is being an International Citizen, with Good Will toward the Earth and all that live upon it. A true Patriot recognizes what needs repair and seizes the opportunity to Speak up for those who can’t. Thinking leadership with forward looking vision has been left with the droppings of "So" Right corruption that started our economic plight, by failing the right enemy to fight. Best we clean up our oil act, education needs, school budget & bridge construction before we share a cup of tea with those who used all of us to perfection. They are “The Nothing,” and “Nothing Comes from Nothing, Nothing Ever Could, so” it’s time to stop screaming and do something good.

The Reasonable Voice

Neither preacher, prophet nor politician am I, but beater of the drum, in celebration of the dreamers who dare to dream what was, and what we might become. One at a time the world we can change, if only we save ourselves from the manipulators of conflict and rage. Sailing onward, looking upward, always striding forward in constant pursuit of what we might be, on the next page. In service to the dreamers’ fulfillment of the dream, of those who dare to see what we can do to accomplish what we want to be. I'll aim to be the stone in your sling, whenever against the greed of Industry Goliaths you hurl, to save us all from an inhumane Corporate world. We all had dreams of grandeur once of how far we could go. Let us now recapture that essence and reignite our courage against the greedy foe. Now is always the greatest time to propel into action our best choices, so let us join together in transformation and raise our Reasonable Voices.
